How it works
How to calculate working days
First count every calendar date from the start through the end, including both endpoints. Then remove occurrences of the selected weekend weekdays and remove unique holiday dates that fall inside the range on otherwise working days.
Working days vs calendar days
A Monday-through-Sunday range contains seven calendar days. With Saturday and Sunday excluded, it normally contains five working days before any holiday exclusions.
Custom weekends
Work schedules and local conventions differ, so any weekday can be selected as a weekend day. Leaving every day clear makes all calendar dates eligible working days; selecting all seven produces zero working days.
How holidays are counted
Holiday dates are supplied manually and are not detected automatically. Blank lines are ignored, duplicates count once, dates outside the range have no effect, and a holiday on an excluded weekend is not subtracted a second time.
Date-only arithmetic
The calculation uses strict ISO dates and UTC-based calendar-day arithmetic. Local time zones and daylight-saving clock changes cannot shorten or lengthen the selected date range.

A seven-day inclusive range with the default weekend:

Because there are no holiday dates, the five weekdays remain working days. The two selected weekend dates account for the rest of the seven calendar days.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between working days and calendar days?
Calendar days include every date in the range. Working days exclude the weekdays you mark as weekends and any applicable holiday dates you enter.
Does the calculator include the start and end dates?
Yes. The range is inclusive, so both dates count before weekend and holiday exclusions are applied.
Can I change the weekend days?
Yes. Select any combination from Sunday through Saturday. You can select none for a seven-day schedule or all seven to make every date an excluded weekend day.
Can I exclude public holidays?
Yes. Enter the relevant holiday dates manually, one YYYY-MM-DD date per line. Only unique dates within the selected range can reduce the working-day total.
Are US federal holidays automatically excluded?
No. The calculator does not assume a US or any other national holiday calendar. Enter the dates that apply to your schedule.
What happens if a holiday falls on a weekend?
It is excluded only once. A holiday on a selected weekend day remains part of the weekend-day total and does not increase the excluded-holiday total.
